About Our Members

Our membership is diverse and growing. Members include first, second, and third-year students as well as L.L.M. and J.S.P. students. Most of our members are American law students, many of whom lived and worked in China prior to attending law school and plan to continue to focus on China in their future career plans as lawyers. Most speak proficient Chinese.

Others members who may not have a background in China join because they recognize the importance of the Chinese market in the current business landscape and seek to learn more through our organization. We also encourage active participation by Chinese L.L.M. students and visiting scholars currently studying at Boalt.

Members of BCLS are recruited by the top U.S. law firms and promise to become leaders in the legal profession, motivated in large part by their ongoing interest in Chinese legal developments and cross-border transactions.
