The Berkeley Chinese Law Society is a diverse group of JD, LLM, and JSP students. Whether their interest stems from cultural ties, academic study, or living in China, members bring a keen enthusiasm to BCLS and to expanding their knowledge of the culture, language, and law of China. BCLS regularly invites speakers to engage students in current issues and developments in the Chinese legal arena. The society organizes a language-exchange conversation table, as well as social activities such as dinners for members at local Chinese restaurants and happy hours with other graduate students across campus at the business school and beyond.
Over Spring Break eight students from the Berkeley Chinese Law Society traveled to Beijing as part of a delegation hosted by the National People's Congress of China. The delegates met with Supreme Court judges, members of the the National People's Congress, U.S. Embassy officers, arbitration officials, legal academics, and several top Chinese and international firms.
